Things have surely gotten busy in the last month! It is so hard to believe how fast time flies!
1. I had surgery on my ankle. Dr. Blahous scoped it and took out a small piece of bone (about the size of a penny) that had broken out of my Talus. He's such a nice doctor, i like him. It is nice having a doctor who is competant and friendly. He genuinely felt bad when he told me i would need surgery, and i thought that was kind of cool. It has been tough because I am not allowed to drive or put any weight on it (or get it wet) so life has become challenging. Chris is driving me to work everyday--it means I get there EARLY! My hours this week have been 6:30-5:00-45. Long days for sure, but that is alright I suppose.
2. I MOVED!!! If you would like my new address you should e-mail me, seeing as how you can never be too safe :) It is uphill all the way to work, but a 3-mile ride (or run!--not too bad. It also happens to be close to ALL of the places I like to go: Ballard, Downtown, Capitol Hill, Fremont and Wallingford. I love living in the actual city.
When I moved I was able to fit EVERYTHING into this tiny little room and have it still feel like it isn't completely crammed in there. My filing cabinet which didn't fit in my room at the Bucky's (my room there was lots bigger than my room now) is acting as a little table, and my bedside table is acting as a desk drawer. I bought this adorable little desk that is the perfect size for my computer and speakers, and fits nicely in my room. I also got a cheap little stool that MOSTLY matches it.
It is nice, because my new place is home, and i like having a home. The entire time living with the Bucky always felt like i was visiting someone else's home, and that never makes you feel relaxed. So, now, i have a home and it is close to EVERYTHING!!! Such as:
A movie theater (4 blocks)
All of my friends (1-3 miles away)
Trader Joes!!!! (4 blocks)
THe UW (8 blocks)
Bus stops(2 blocks)
Art Supply store (5 blocks)
All in all, i am extremely pleased.
3. I joined a gym. It is the same gym Chris goes to, and we used to go there a lot in the winter (i had free passes for a while), but they had a special that was EXTREMELY affordable, and since I will be saving a lot on gas, even more so. It is the Gold's Gym on Lake City Way, and makes for a nice bike ride if I ever want to ride there.
I am also writing the newsletter for my triathlon team to try to stay in touch with these people. It is really unfortunate that I broke my ankle and it wound up being such a drawn out process. It was quite a bit of money that is ending up being a bit wasted, but, at the same time, i didn't know that i would have a slow recovery and need surgery so I think it was still worth it. PLUS hearing everyone's stories makes me really want to do a triathlon! I can hardly wait to get to train again! I think I am going to try to be ready for Bay to Breakers and then MAYBE go do that! I think it would be fun. (Daddy, if you still read this, want to run with me again? I won't complain as much this time!)
Mmm...I think that is all the news--at least for now. Maybe more later this week after visiting the doctor.
