Yeah, title says it all. I keep saying that I am going to post, and i get home and it just never seems appealing. Go figure--i spend all day on a computer and half the time when i get home I don't even want to turn mine on. Well, needless to say a lot has been going on--the likelihood of me remembering it all is pretty slim though, so here are the highlights:
Well, first off--Chris and i split up. it has been really hard--came completely out of the blue. We have a lot in common and we are very close, so we are working on putting together what it looks like for us to be friends--but it is tough. I have been a bit upset and bummed out lately (just in time for the cruddy seattle winter weather).
What will be tremendously cheering though, will be my visit to Alaska (which is also in the news). Dad and Mom have been living up in Alaska for just a bit now, with their good friends Bill and Tammy who have generously invited me to come up and spend christmas with the crew. From the sounds of things it is going to be a packed house, but should be cheerful and fun :) I am excited to see Alaska (and also for some COLD! funny thing to miss, right?)
We (being Chris, Lana, Meredith and I) tried to go hiking two weekends ago, but missed our trailhead so basically were walking on an access road for four hours, but it was enjoyable. So last weekend, Meredith, Chris and I tried our hike again--this time finding the trailhead, and successfully completing an easy, but fun hike. It was called the Cedar Butte Trail.
Hiking here can be a bit lame sometimes, i have heard. Washington keeps all their trails completely well-maintained--putting gravel down and clearing brush, adding steps, etc. It is a bit yuppie for those of us who actually enjoy the difficulty of trails, but, it does make the outdoors accessible. Meredith is still recovering from her knee surgery, and since my ankle is still not top shape, it was actually nice that the hike was easy, and spectacularly well-maintained.
Otherwise, just plowing away at work and viola (the latter of which is going somewhat poorly, but, hopefully it improves soon).
Oh--and I started putting up pictures on my Picasa account. Look for forthcoming news about that :) It is taking FOREVER!!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME!!!
To celebrate my one year anniversary with Seattle, yesterday i went and got my washington license plates. They were inexpensive, but BOY were they a pain to get! You can't just drive to Jiffy Lube and get an emissions test done, you have to go to a state-run station (of which there are not very many), THEN go to the licensing place. Apparently, the minimum sale value of cars here is $200 but gifting a vehicle is legal. Go figure--I wound up having to pay sales tax on the $200 in order to get my plates. BUT!!! I got my plates! 672-YBU. hahahhahahha

Sunny Seattle
Well, i am finally back on my feet--almost. I am off the crutches and walking around, still not allowed to run or ride my bike yet, but it is a start. It is nice to be able to drive myself places (like the grocery store, and work!) Wow, having legs is awesome!
Last night Lana and I went and saw the Portland Cello Project play at the Triple Door. It was SOOOOOOO entertaining! The triple door is a musical theater, complete with drinks and dinner service. It is pricey for everything, so lana and I just split an appetizer and an entree. Tickets were very inexpensive though-so that was nice. These artists were extremely talented and played a range of songs (some classical, some not so classical) and they collaborated with three portland bands and one seattle band. The arrangements they did of these bands' songs were really good, i think it is one of the best musical shows i have been to in a long time!
Other than that, not a lot has been going on lately--mostly just work. Jeremy will be visiting in about two weeks, and I am looking forward to that a lot! It will be nice to see my friend again (and its about time someone came and visited me out here again!).
Lana finally found a job and an apartment, so that is great. She is signed on for being out here a year--how crazy!
Mom & Dad make their adventurous move soon too--too bad I won't be able to go to their party :( Alaska here they come!

Man oh Man!
Things have surely gotten busy in the last month! It is so hard to believe how fast time flies!
1. I had surgery on my ankle. Dr. Blahous scoped it and took out a small piece of bone (about the size of a penny) that had broken out of my Talus. He's such a nice doctor, i like him. It is nice having a doctor who is competant and friendly. He genuinely felt bad when he told me i would need surgery, and i thought that was kind of cool. It has been tough because I am not allowed to drive or put any weight on it (or get it wet) so life has become challenging. Chris is driving me to work everyday--it means I get there EARLY! My hours this week have been 6:30-5:00-45. Long days for sure, but that is alright I suppose.
2. I MOVED!!! If you would like my new address you should e-mail me, seeing as how you can never be too safe :) It is uphill all the way to work, but a 3-mile ride (or run!--not too bad. It also happens to be close to ALL of the places I like to go: Ballard, Downtown, Capitol Hill, Fremont and Wallingford. I love living in the actual city.
When I moved I was able to fit EVERYTHING into this tiny little room and have it still feel like it isn't completely crammed in there. My filing cabinet which didn't fit in my room at the Bucky's (my room there was lots bigger than my room now) is acting as a little table, and my bedside table is acting as a desk drawer. I bought this adorable little desk that is the perfect size for my computer and speakers, and fits nicely in my room. I also got a cheap little stool that MOSTLY matches it.
It is nice, because my new place is home, and i like having a home. The entire time living with the Bucky always felt like i was visiting someone else's home, and that never makes you feel relaxed. So, now, i have a home and it is close to EVERYTHING!!! Such as:
A movie theater (4 blocks)
All of my friends (1-3 miles away)
Trader Joes!!!! (4 blocks)
THe UW (8 blocks)
Bus stops(2 blocks)
Art Supply store (5 blocks)
All in all, i am extremely pleased.
3. I joined a gym. It is the same gym Chris goes to, and we used to go there a lot in the winter (i had free passes for a while), but they had a special that was EXTREMELY affordable, and since I will be saving a lot on gas, even more so. It is the Gold's Gym on Lake City Way, and makes for a nice bike ride if I ever want to ride there.
I am also writing the newsletter for my triathlon team to try to stay in touch with these people. It is really unfortunate that I broke my ankle and it wound up being such a drawn out process. It was quite a bit of money that is ending up being a bit wasted, but, at the same time, i didn't know that i would have a slow recovery and need surgery so I think it was still worth it. PLUS hearing everyone's stories makes me really want to do a triathlon! I can hardly wait to get to train again! I think I am going to try to be ready for Bay to Breakers and then MAYBE go do that! I think it would be fun. (Daddy, if you still read this, want to run with me again? I won't complain as much this time!)
Mmm...I think that is all the news--at least for now. Maybe more later this week after visiting the doctor.

28 April 2008
The long awaited post :)
Yeah yeah yeah, i am horrible at updating this thing! So what have I been up to? Lately, just car shopping, apartment shopping, and gear shopping! Even though I can't afford to buy a car yet, my lease isn't up until august, and my ankle is still broken and healing EXTREMELY slowly.
So, first things first: over the next few years, I think I will first be saving for a new car. My car, a geo metro, has been a stud--surviving being keyed in high school, having the antennae ripped off, being tipped over onto its poor little side, driving all the way to washington, and being in an accident here. I have had the Hulk for almost 6 (?) years, surprising, since no one thought it would last that long. So, i have spent some time trying to find something basically akin to a brand new metro, because really, the Hulk is fantastic. Well, I think i FINALLY found the car that I want, and she is ADORABLE I saw it in real-life for the first time today, she's a cutie. Affordable I think, I have about half the cost sitting in the bank right now :) yay!
Next, my new apartment! I'll be moving in with my friend Allen HERE. Super close to everything fun and exciting in this area! Awesome.
Next...I bought a swim cap (swimming is hard. but fun, and hard). I was told i wasn't allowed to use my legs, so, there it is--no legs for me. Soon, though, i hope. I start physical therapy tomorrow for this stupid ankle.
I also bought a pair of hiking pants. Prana makes these zip off pants that are a little pricey, but, the money was in the budget since I haven't been out climbing in a few weeks at the gym. THey are extremely comfortable yet durable enough for hiking and climbing in. Pretty stoked. *coughanklehealcough*
SO, i think that is it. We went and saw "21" this weekend--pretty good flick. its about math smart kids and gambling :)
well, that's all for me, ttyl!

The weather is turning nice and its time to rawk!
***NEWS ALERT***
BEFORE THIS POST BEGINS I MUST OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCE:
I WILL BE IN COLORADO MAY 16TH THROUGH 21ST. I WOULD LOVE TO EVERYONE, PLEASE CALL ME!!!!
So, this weekend officially kicks off the spring/summer festivities!!!
Sunday we are going up to leavenworth to do some climbing (i, of course, will be taking pictures, and only doing top rope climbs).
Tonight though, i think we are going to get Meredith's *NEW CAR* and head to golden gardens state park and have a picnic on the beach and just hang out. Since she and Chris A. stopped dating boyfriend and I have had to juggle our friendships with them a little bit. It sorta stinks, but, i think we will all be friends again once Meredith is back at the climbing gym, which, won't be anytime soon because of her knee.
Everyone has been so busy lately that we have barely hung out at all, so this weekend is really exciting! 40 hour workweeks make me tired. It sounds silly but, all i want to do when i get off work is go to sleep. Lame sauce! but, it is staying light almost past 7 now, so that is inspiring for doing more than zonking out. also inspiring will be when I can actually run and ride again. blah.

so, that is about the news.
i find out next wednesday what happens next with my ankle.
blah.

So, not too regular about this, sorry....
Finally! A blog update!
So, the news is minimal, but, here goes:
I fell climbing and hurt my ankle. Originally the doctor said I had a grade 1-2 sprain and to get some physical therapy. He also said swimming was a great idea…so, I went swimming, and lo and behold, I hurt myself even worse. Much to my chagrin, the doctor is having me do an MRI tomorrow morning so that he can guide my PT since it apparently is injured slightly differently/worse than he had originally thought so, there is that. My ankle is stupid—yippee!
However, that did not stop me from joining TeamFastt—a triathlon team!!! I have never done a triathlon, but, it seemed like not only a great way to meet people, but a good way to stay active too! I am really looking forward to when my ankle starts feeling better and I can do some training with these people!!! There was a team meeting last night and everyone is really friendly and has a great time supporting each other in the sport of triathlon. So, as expensive as it was to join, I am really excited to do it!!!
Also, it is just about time for outdoor climbing season to start!!! Another reason to be excited about this: Chris and I are taking a lead class next week!!! This means we will both be certified and knowledgeable about how to lead outdoor climbing routes (that way we don’t always have to hike around, fix the anchor, rappel down, then climb up—we can just climb up and either set gear as we go, or use bolts!!!) Really cool! The fed is buying me a new sleeping bag (woot) so it will be far more comfortable to camp :)
My job is still wonderful—really great place, still learning a ton!!! I still haven’t landed on my feet with church yet, but, we’ll get there! It helps that my triathlon team is Christian-based :) THE CONDO SOLD!!!! That is also very exciting news!
Well, anyway, time to go face traffic!

Wow, its been a while.
My mom pointed out to me that it has been awhile since my last blog post--three weeks is a while! Things are going smoothly and steadily here in the PNW, the weather is starting to clear, days are getting longer. Soon it will be time for weekend camping/climbing trips, frisbee, and running.
Oh, that is, if my ankle heals. Yep--I took a nice fall at the climbing gym on thursday and hurt my ankle. I am able to walk on it right now, but, it will be a while before it is back up to par. Disappointing. I have been improving a lot on the wall, and definitely been wanting to go running more. A few more weeks and it should be better :)
Chris has been working long long hours this week--65 hour week or something horrible like that. Luckily, before he went AWOL because of working so much, he and I got to go to the zoo. I am trying to figure out how to post pictures, so, as soon as I do, I will put up the pictures.
The new job is still going fantastically well--i love the work i get to do and I learn something new every day. It is pretty awesome!
Mom and Dad are visiting in a few weeks--which will be great. It will have been 6 or 7 months since last seeing them, so, it is about time!
Lana was back in town this weekend--as always, it was good to see her!

My first home in Seattle.
Well, I started my new job today (about 5 hours ago to be precise). I am currently on my lunch break.
My new job is kickin' awesome!!!
I have my own desk which is in the back and I can see out a few windows. There is room for me to stock a drawer with granola, oatmeal and soup--as well as anything else I might like to put on or in my desk. I have room for photos and reference books and my purse. It is sweet. THere is a lunch room upstairs to eat, and lots of complimentary tea and coffee and such. APparently on fridays we get donuts delivered to the office (rawk!) My keyboard is ergonomic and my screen is 20" wide--awesome for CAD work!
Today I am working on elevations for a real project. Day #1 and i am in LOVE with my new job. SCORE!

Well, it finally happened...
After being out here for going on five months (i know! already!) I finally was offered a position as an interior designer!!! I will be starting with my new firm, KDW Architects, on the 28th. I am EXTREMELY excited. For all of you who have been praying for me, thank you so much for your support.
Anyway, I have to go, but i wanted to update you on the goings-on :)

A hip hop happening week!
Things have been busy (are you surprised? I'm not!)
Work has been stinky this week--i've been feeling a little under the weather, and sleeping poorly, so going to work has been hard. Going to work is always a little bit hard, but, a little harder this week. Contributing to that is my ONGOING search of a new job. I called the 22 firms I sent out to last week--7 definite no's, 11 phone calls to return, and a few promising prospects. We'll see. If you happen to be chatting with jesus--I could *still* use a new job. Oh, and while you are chatting with said Lord, my condo still hasn't sold, bleak market that it is.
Going to chrch here is hard. I didn't realize before how much I came to rely on having friends at my church and chatting with those same people (and my awesome mentor and small group) about spiritual happenings. I am still church shopping, i suppose. I was consistently going to Overlake (which I love) but not making any friends (after four months, still), so I have been looking around a little. It is discouraging. It is almost like I was in this awesome relationship with God before leaving Colorado, but that when I moved we broke up. I know that is not the case, but, this place is not wired for organized religion--it feels so oppressive spiritually sometimes. Seattle supposedly has the most unchurched population in the entire US. Lots of reasons for all this I guess--but it makes me a little bit sad.
Anyway, tonight we go climbing, and again on saturday (and again monday!) Its nice to finally be getting some good wear on my climbing shoes (and on my poor hands! they look all scuffy and torn up always!)

Happy New Year!
Wow, already January 7th?!?! Can't believe the new year is off to such a running start!
This past week I renewed my drive to find a new job--I applied to 22 new firms I had not previously applied to. This week will be the massive juggling of follow up calls and interview settings. A coworker also had a contact with one of the larger design + architecture firms in the area (they are international) and as a result of insider-reference, I was *granted* a phone interview. That was this morning! I didn't have very high expectations--the phone is awkward and uncomfortable, but, i think it went alright. If nothing else, all my stuff is getting passed on to someone who will either tell me in a week that there is no way they have space for me, or who will call me to set up an interview and office tour (which I take as a very good sign). One thing is certain--I would not have gotten the phone interview without a little inside recommendation :)
One thing I am realizing is that it is uncommon for people to have a job they aren't entirely pleased with, but to still try to excel at it. My boss is very impressed with me and, rumor from the grapevine, wants to eventually promote me to office manager. Crazy. Apparently he respects my opinions (even though I am 23 and have no experience with Geotech or environmental consulting). I think I trick him with my smiles and positive attitude.
Other than that--its mostly been business as usual: finding it hard to fit in at church here, playing on rocks with Chris, Chris and Meredith, and reading books :) life is good.
